Is Your Airbag Safe?

53 million cars worldwide with Takata airbags are being recalled.  34 million in the United States.

These airbags have been found to occasionally spray metal shrapnel if the airbag detonator has been exposed to moisture due to a fault in the manufacturing process.

Takata, the airbag production company, is currently under investigation for destroying evidence of internal testing of potentially faulty airbags.

Six deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags.

Cars with Takata air bags that are being recalled:

  • Chrysler 300C sedan 2006-07
  • Honda Jazz 2004-09
  • Honda Accord Euro - 2004-07
  • Honda CR-V 2002-2008
  • Honda Civic 2004-05
  • Nissan N16 Pulsar
  • Nissan D22 Navara
  • Nissan Y61 Patrol
  • Nissan T30 X-Trail
  • Nisan A33 Maxima
  • Toyota Echo 2003-05
  • Toyota Rav4 2003-05
  • Toyota Corrola 2003-07
  • Toyota Yaris 2005-07
  • Toyota Avensis 2003-07

What is worst - cars that have been totaled will have their airbags removed and replace new or other used vehicles.  So even though your vehicle may not be listed above.  If you have had your air bag replaced it may have had a Tanaka airbag installed.
